Question If sclerosis is seen as hypointensity, why is mesial temporal sclerosis hyperintense in signal?
Answer Dr. James Abraham responds:

I assume you mean sclerosis like scarring—such as gliosis. If this is the case, it appears bright on T2 weighted images as would mesial temporal sclerosis. Sclerosis, such as that found in bone, where it becomes denser, can look low signal on MR, but this is a different thing.
